Heliogenna, the celebration of the Sun's Birth, is celebrated around the Winter Solstice.
The nine day festival is broken down into three segments.
Sundown is the segment of the festival that calls to memory the last year, giving thanks, remembering all those things and people that meant something to you during the year.
Night is the segment dedicated to a commemoration of death, of the after life (if you believe in one), and of those aspects of nature and the divine that represent such things to us.
Sunrise is the segment calling to mind hope, the future, and all the wonders it may hold.
I celebrate here by writing a piece for each day, starting with Day One of Sunset on Saturday, December 17, 2011
